John Robbins- Baseball Instructor/Head Coach for Express 14u John was born and raised in Pawtucket RI and graduated from St. Raphael Academy in 2008. John was a member of the varsity baseball team for all four years 2004-08. As a sophomore he became the starting catcher and was named to 1st team All Division 1 North, by the R.I. Baseball Coaches Association. John has worked for KR Baseball since 2007 under the tutelage of Ken Ryan. John is an instructor in our Baseball Academy, Pitcher's Club, and Hitter's Club. John is also in his fourth year of coaching the AAU Express 14u team. John is available for private lessons on hitting and pitching.
Chris Lima - Baseball Instructor: Chris Lima joined the KR Baseball AAU as a coach of the 13u team back in 2008. Chris has also coached in Portsmouth with the Little League and Babe Ruth programs. Chris is from Seekonk, MA and played at Seekonk High School before attending the University of Massachusetts/Amherst. Chris went to work for TCI America soon after graduating and in the course of his work has had the opportunity to spend a lot of time working with major league players and coaches. He continues to play and enjoy baseball in the Rhode Island Senior Men's Baseball League. Chris is also an instructor at KR Baseball and works in many of our hitting classes. Chris is available for hitting lessons and also runs our video analysis.
Kyle Vazquez - Pitching Instructor: Kyle was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 15th round of the MLB first year player draft in 2009. Kyle played 4 1/2 seasons with three of the Giants affiliates. He pitched two seasons in the American Association of Independent professional baseball for the Sioux Fall Canaries and represented the Canaries in the 2014 All-Star Game. Kyle was traded to the Washington Wild Things where he will play the 2015 season. He attended Franklin Pierce University as a Management major. Kyle was a Daktronics and Rawllings All-American, first team All-Region, First Team All-Conference pitcher of the year in 2009 while posting an 8-1 record in 93 innings of work with an ERA of 1.93 and 112 strikeouts. In addition he also appeared in two DII College World Series in 2007 and 2008. Kyle is available for private pitching lessons and is also an instructor in our Pitcher's Club program.
Matt Netto - Baseball Instructor: Matt was a part of 3 Division Championships and the 2000 Class B State Championship while playing for Lincoln High School. After several shoulder surgeries ended his playing career, Matt began coaching little league baseball in Central Falls and later in Lincoln RI. Matt has coached the Lincoln Little League 11/12 year all star team for several years and in 2013 he led Lincoln all the way to the New England Championship game against Connecticut in Bristol CT. Matt has been coaching AAU baseball since 2010. He won the 2014 15u Diamond Division New England Championship with the National Gold Reds, along with several tournament championships. Matt is currently an assistant baseball coach at Lincoln High School and coaches the K R Express 13u team.
Elise Fortier - Fast Pitch Softball Instructor: Elise coaches for the RI Thunder after spending the last two years coaching at division one programs on the east coast. Last season she was the assistant coach at Hofstra University where she worked with all of the hitters and infieldiers. The first season after she graduated (2015), she was the volunteer assistant at Florida Atlantic.
Fortier coached under FAU legend and National Softball Hall of Famer Joan Joyce and assisted in practice planning and individual instruction. Working primarily with FAU's hitters, Fortier was part of a staff that guided the Owls to an at-large bid in the NCAA Tournament.
At Fordham, Fortier helped the Rams to back-to-back Atlantic 10 titles in 2013 and 2014 and was the 2014 ECAC Player of the Year and the Atlantic 10 Player of the Year. She hit .389 and tallied 20 home runs (only player in the country to hit 20 homeruns in back to back seasons), 73 RBIs, 13 doubles and 35 walks. The shortstop from Coventry, Rhode Island posted a .495 on-base percentage and slugged .854. She set the Fordham career home run record with 46 in just three seasons.
Fortier graduated from Coventry High School where she also was part of two high school championships in 2009 and 2010. She pitched and played third base for four years at the varsity level. In 2010 she was Gatorade player of the year.
